NCCN just released its first-ever patient guideline dedicated entirely to cancer caregivers — and it's free. With roughly a quarter of Americans in a caregiving role, this resource aims to help them support their loved ones without losing themselves in the process.
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) has published its first-ever patient guideline specifically designed for cancer caregivers. The free resource — NCCN Guidelines for Patients: Caregiving for People with Cancer — offers practical, evidence-based guidance on navigating one of life's most challenging roles, covering topics like emotional support, household tasks, finances, legal concerns, and hands-on medical management.
The guide also dedicates an entire chapter to caregiver self-care, recognizing that supporting someone with cancer takes a serious toll. It features "Caregiver's Corner" tips throughout and includes links to helpful organizations, apps, and websites in its online version.

Why it matters: As cancer diagnoses continue to rise, more people are stepping into caregiving roles — often with little preparation. This resource fills a critical gap by giving caregivers free, trusted, and easy-to-understand information to help them make informed decisions and protect their own wellbeing.
