DaVita's free community health screenings are reaching underserved neighborhoods — and the results are eye-opening. In 2025, over 1,000 people were screened across Orlando, Houston, and LA, with many learning for the first time they had kidney disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. The program highlights just how many Americans are living with serious conditions they don't even know about.
DaVita's Community Health Experience, now in its fifth year, is bringing free health screenings directly into underserved neighborhoods by partnering with organizations like the YMCA and local nonprofits. The initiative screens for hypertension, diabetes, and kidney disease — and connects participants with education, resources, and pathways to primary care.
The 2025 results from events in Orlando, Houston, and Los Angeles revealed striking gaps in awareness and access. Nearly a third of participants had no primary care physician, and nearly a quarter were uninsured — underscoring why community-based outreach matters so much.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: Chronic kidney disease affects 1 in 7 Americans, yet most people don't know they have it until it's already progressed. Programs like this one demonstrate that meeting patients where they live — literally — can be a powerful tool for early detection and prevention, especially in communities with limited healthcare access.
