Walmart and SCAN Health Plan are rolling out co-branded Medicare Advantage plans in Texas and Arizona, targeting 2 million Medicare-eligible adults. SCAN Health Plan and Walmart are officially launching co-branded Medicare Advantage plans starting January 1, available across six Texas counties and three Arizona counties — reaching an estimated 2 million Medicare-eligible adults. The partnership offers two plan types: an HMO and a Chronic Special Needs Plan (C-SNP), both designed to simplify healthcare navigation for older adults by combining SCAN's Medicare expertise with Walmart's retail footprint.
The plans are built around affordability and personalization. The HMO features $0 monthly premiums, $0 copays for primary care and select drug tiers, and up to $780/year in OTC benefits. The C-SNP goes further, offering up to $2,400/year in OTC benefits, a $350 vision allowance, and $3,000–$4,000 in dental coverage. Both plans tap into Walmart's Everyday Health Signals platform — an AI-driven tool that uses opt-in shopping data to deliver personalized nutrition guidance and flag potential health risks before they escalate.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: As retail giants deepen their healthcare footprint, this partnership signals a growing trend of insurers leveraging consumer data and retail infrastructure to deliver more personalized, cost-effective Medicare coverage — a model that could reshape how older adults engage with their health plans.
