Teladoc Health is rolling out two new AI-powered tools — SoloVitals and SoloScribe — within its Solo virtual care platform. SoloVitals monitors heart and respiratory rates contactlessly via camera, while SoloScribe auto-generates clinical notes from visits. The move aims to reduce tech fragmentation for health systems and help Teladoc recover from a $200.3M net loss in 2025.
Teladoc Health is doubling down on AI as it looks to reverse its financial slide. The telehealth giant announced two new capabilities within its Solo enterprise platform: SoloVitals, a contactless vital sign monitoring tool, and SoloScribe, an ambient AI documentation scribe. Both are designed to slot into workflows health systems already use — no extra hardware, no new vendor relationships.
SoloVitals uses remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) to detect subtle changes in facial skin color via existing camera-equipped devices, translating those signals into heart and respiratory rate measurements. SoloScribe, now generally available, records and transcribes clinical encounters — both in-person and virtual — and pushes structured notes directly into EHRs. A broad release of SoloVitals is expected in December.
The timing is deliberate. Teladoc posted a $200.3M net loss in 2025 and has since trimmed its 2026 revenue outlook, largely due to struggles at its BetterHelp mental health division. Expanding AI features within a single platform is a bid to attract health system clients fatigued by managing too many point solutions.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: As health systems push to do more with less, AI tools embedded in existing workflows could meaningfully reduce administrative burden and clinician burnout — while giving digital health companies like Teladoc a potential path back to growth.
