Dry eye patients report better quality of life with Tryptyr. A new real-world study found that patients with dry eye disease using Tryptyr (acoltremon 0.003%) twice daily saw significant improvements in daily activities, mood, and eye comfort within just one month. Over two-thirds said they were satisfied with the treatment and would recommend it to others.
Dry eye patients report better quality of life with Tryptyr
A real-world, one-month multi-site study of 39 adults with symptomatic dry eye disease found that twice-daily use of Tryptyr (acoltremon ophthalmic solution 0.003%, Alcon) led to meaningful improvements across multiple quality-of-life measures. FDA-approved in 2025, Tryptyr works by stimulating natural tear production — and post-market data is now backing up its promise.
Participants completed validated questionnaires at baseline, two weeks, and one month. Scores improved significantly across all evaluated domains of the IDEEL questionnaire — covering work, daily activities, and emotional well-being — as well as on a depression screening tool (PHQ-9) and an eye dryness visual analog scale.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: These findings give clinicians real-world evidence to support conversations with dry eye patients about treatment expectations — helping doctors better address how the condition affects everyday life, from screen time and contact lens wear to emotional well-being.
