Heidi, the AI-powered clinical documentation startup, just secured $340 million to evolve from a medical scribe into a full "AI care partner" for clinicians. The funding — a mix of equity and growth investment — values the company at $900 million. Heidi now supports 2.8 million patient interactions weekly across 190 countries and has its sights set on agentic AI capabilities that go well beyond note-taking.
Heidi, the Australia-born healthcare AI startup, has raised $340 million in a combined equity and growth round to accelerate its transformation from an ambient AI scribe into what it calls an "AI care partner" — a system capable of taking supervised action on clinical tasks, not just documenting them. The $100 million Series C was led by Blackbird and values the company at $900 million, while a separate $240 million growth investment came from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund to fuel large-scale market expansion.
The company has grown rapidly, supporting over 175 million patient visits and 67 million clinical hours — more than tripling since September 2025. Its reach spans major health systems including Beth Israel Lahey Health in the U.S., NHS England Midlands (the largest clinical AI procurement in NHS history), and multiple Australian hospital networks.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: As clinician burnout and healthcare capacity shortages intensify globally, AI tools that reduce administrative burden and support real-time clinical decision-making could meaningfully shift how care is delivered — and Heidi's rapid adoption across major health systems suggests the market is ready for it.
