On the wins side, the FDA approved 12 new anti-cancer therapies in the past year alone — including the first immune checkpoint inhibitor for ovarian cancer, the first CAR T-cell therapy for marginal zone lymphoma, and a first-of-its-kind wearable device for pancreatic cancer. mRNA cancer vaccines also showed durable promise in melanoma, triple-negative breast cancer, and pancreatic cancer trials.
