Two genomics powerhouses join forces to simplify CRISPR development
Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) and Aldevron, both part of Danaher, have launched research-grade S.p. Cas9 mRNA in two formats: wild-type and SpyFi™ high-fidelity. The collaboration combines IDT's CRISPR protein engineering expertise with Aldevron's mRNA manufacturing capabilities, giving researchers a more seamless toolkit for advancing gene editing programs — from early discovery all the way to CGMP-scale manufacturing.
The new Cas9 mRNA is designed to work across multiple cell types, including T cells, iPSCs, and immortalized cells, and is compatible with electroporation, cationic lipids, and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) — offering flexibility for diverse research applications. Importantly, the mRNA is enzymatically capped, sidestepping certain proprietary capping technologies and reducing licensing complexity for researchers.
