Real-world data show dupilumab beats other biologics for severe asthma remission. A large European retrospective study found that adults and adolescents with type 2 inflammatory severe asthma were significantly more likely to achieve clinical remission on dupilumab than on omalizumab or anti-IL-5 biologics like mepolizumab and benralizumab — with the strongest benefit seen in patients with the highest inflammatory biomarker levels.
Real-world data presented at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) 2026 International Congress show that dupilumab outperforms other biologics in helping patients with severe asthma reach clinical remission. The EU-ADVANTAGE study — a multicenter retrospective chart review — analyzed patients aged 12 and older with type 2 (T2) inflammatory severe asthma who started dupilumab, omalizumab, or an anti-IL-5 biologic (mepolizumab or benralizumab) between 2019 and 2022.
Clinical remission was defined as no severe exacerbations, no oral corticosteroid use, and stable or improved lung function. Dupilumab-treated patients were significantly more likely to hit all three targets compared to those on other biologics — and the advantage grew even larger in patients with higher levels of inflammatory biomarkers.
