MGI Tech has partnered with Madrid Science Park (PCM) to bring cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics to Spain. PCM is now the first STOmics Certified Service Provider in Madrid, offering Stereo-seq technology that maps gene expression at near-nanoscale resolution. The move is expected to accelerate research in precision oncology, neuroscience, and developmental biology across the Spanish R&D ecosystem.
MGI Tech has teamed up with the Genomics Unit at Madrid Science Park (Parque Científico de Madrid, PCM) to bring Stereo-seq spatial transcriptomics technology to Spain. PCM is now the first STOmics Certified Service Provider in Madrid and only the second in the entire country — a milestone that opens the door to whole-transcriptome spatial analysis at true cellular and subcellular resolution for researchers, hospitals, and biotech companies across Spain.
Stereo-seq, built on DNBSEQ technology, maps gene expression while preserving tissue architecture — something traditional genomics tools can't do. To ensure quality and reproducibility, the service is delivered end-to-end in collaboration with the Histology and Microscopy Services of Spain's National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC), covering everything from tissue processing to bioinformatic analysis.
Quick Facts:
Why it matters: Spatial transcriptomics is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern biomedical research. By establishing a local, certified hub in Madrid, this partnership lowers barriers for Spanish researchers and clinicians to access one of genomics' most powerful tools — potentially speeding up discoveries in cancer, brain disease, and beyond.
