Zocdoc is letting AI agents tap into its healthcare booking infrastructure, making it easier for patients to find providers, verify insurance, and schedule appointments. The platform also announced a new partnership with AI personal assistant Instinct. AI agent traffic on Zocdoc has at least doubled every three weeks since July, signaling a major shift in how patients are navigating healthcare.
Zocdoc is betting big on AI agents as the next frontier in healthcare access. Starting October 28, AI agents can connect to Zocdoc's infrastructure via MCP servers, deep links, and other channels to help patients find verified providers, check insurance eligibility, and book appointments — all without the usual friction. The company's Chief Strategy Officer noted that AI agent traffic on the platform has "at least doubled roughly every three weeks since July," underscoring how quickly this shift is happening.
To support this expansion, Zocdoc also announced a partnership with Instinct, an AI personal assistant, allowing it to leverage Zocdoc's network for seamless, real-time appointment booking. Instinct joins a growing Care Access Network that already includes Google Gemini, Amazon Health AI, Yelp, and Healthgrades. Zocdoc has also set ground rules: agents must register, obtain explicit patient consent before booking, and protect patient and provider data.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: As fragmented, outdated health information online creates real risks for patients, Zocdoc's move to open its verified, real-time infrastructure to AI agents could meaningfully improve how people access care — making the process as simple as sending a text.
