Hospital staffing runs on spreadsheets and group texts — Vitalize wants to change that. The AI startup just raised $31M to automate nurse scheduling, forecast patient demand, and cut costly overtime. Early adopters are already reporting 50%+ reductions in premium labor spend within weeks of deployment.
Hospital staffing is a logistical nightmare — clinical managers spend two to four hours daily juggling schedules on spreadsheets and group texts, while health systems can spend over $100M a year per facility on overtime and agency labor. Vitalize, an AI startup co-founded by Veeraj Shah and Sanketh Andhavarapu, aims to be the "air traffic control" system for hospital operations, unifying staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and capacity management on a single platform.
The company just closed a $31M Series A led by Oak HC/FT, with participation from Norwest Ventures, .406 Ventures, Constellation Ventures, Y Combinator, and MemorialCare Innovation Fund. Vitalize integrates with EHR, HR, and payroll systems to automate scheduling workflows, forecast demand, and intelligently recommend patient placement in real time.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: With hospitals under mounting financial pressure and frontline leaders burning out, automating labor management isn't a luxury — it's becoming essential to keeping health systems financially and operationally viable.
