AI clinical assistant Heidi just leveled up. The startup unveiled Heidi II, a platform that goes beyond note-taking to actually completing administrative tasks — think referrals, chart prep, and patient follow-ups. Clinicians stay in control of final approvals, while the AI handles the busywork, backed by a fresh $340 million in funding.
AI healthcare startup Heidi has launched Heidi II, a major upgrade to its clinical assistant platform that moves well beyond transcribing patient visits. The new version introduces AI agents capable of handling administrative tasks like referral management, chart preparation, follow-up coordination, and patient outreach — all while keeping clinicians in the driver's seat for final decisions and approvals.
The platform also adds a "memory" feature for personalized context and integrates peer-reviewed research from partners like the New England Journal of Medicine, Wiley, and Cochrane. Clinicians can issue plain-language commands to kick off tasks, save agent routines for individual or practice-wide use, and open their day with a smart home screen that surfaces patients, sessions, and tasks at a glance.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: Clinician burnout driven by administrative overload is a well-documented crisis. Heidi II represents a shift from AI as a passive documentation tool to an active workflow partner — potentially freeing up meaningful time for patient care at scale.
