Zocdoc is opening up its scheduling infrastructure to payers and tech platforms through a new enterprise offering called Care Access Network. Partners like Google's Gemini, Amazon Health AI, and Blue Shield of California can now embed real-time provider booking directly into their own platforms. The goal: meet patients wherever they search, and get them seen faster than the current 31-day national average wait for specialists.
Zocdoc is going enterprise. The healthcare booking platform launched Care Access Network, a new offering that lets payers, tech companies, and consumer platforms embed Zocdoc's scheduling infrastructure directly into their own websites and apps. Built on 20 years of connecting providers, payers, and EHRs, the network taps into Zocdoc's roster of 200,000+ providers across 200+ specialties and 10,000 insurance plans.
The launch comes with some big-name partners. Google's Gemini can now surface Zocdoc appointment slots mid-conversation — users describe their health concern, and the chatbot pulls up nearby available times based on location. Amazon Health AI is also on board, along with Yelp, Healthgrades, Blue Shield of California, and the VA. The integration can be stood up in hours and fully deployed within weeks.
Early results are promising: Blue Shield of California unlocked 2 million hours of bookable appointments in a 90-day window — a 2x increase — and saw a 7x jump in booked appointments, with an average wait time of just six days.
By the Numbers:
Why it matters: With specialist wait times at crisis levels, reducing scheduling friction could meaningfully improve access to care — especially as patients increasingly turn to AI tools and search engines to navigate the healthcare system.
