AI company Knowtex has launched a dedicated healthcare AI lab focused on building and rigorously evaluating specialty-specific clinical tools. Already live across 79 VA medical centers, its ambient scribe platform has saved clinicians over 450,000 hours of documentation time. The lab also introduces KnowBench, a new public benchmark designed to hold the entire industry to a higher standard of evidence.
AI company Knowtex has officially launched a frontier healthcare AI lab, formalizing its mission to build and rigorously evaluate clinical AI tools designed for accuracy, auditability, and clinician trust. Founded in 2022 by Stanford AI scientists who spent time working as medical scribes, Knowtex started in oncology — a specialty demanding precision in coding and staging — before expanding to more than 200 specialties across 300+ organizations nationwide.
A key output of the new lab is KnowBench, the company's proprietary evaluation framework that measures how much administrative effort its AI reduces for clinicians. Knowtex's platform scored 97.99% on the benchmark, with errors factored in since any mistake requires clinician correction. The company plans to publish the full methodology and release additional public benchmarks to push industry-wide standards higher.
