Walmart's frozen berry blend joins a growing E. coli recall
A 10-oz bag of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend — containing strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries — has been added to an expanding recall tied to an E. coli O145:H28 outbreak. The product, sold at Walmart stores in 16 states, was pulled as a precaution by Chilean supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. after it traced the berry source back to its earlier recall. No illnesses have been directly linked to this specific product.
The outbreak, which began as early as May 11, has sickened 17 people in Florida and Georgia, with six hospitalized. Of 13 patients interviewed, 11 reported eating frozen blueberries. The same supplier previously triggered a recall of GreenWise organic frozen berries sold at Publix stores in July.
