Pennsylvania's measles outbreak — centered in Lancaster County with 393 cases and two reported deaths — has taken a confusing turn. After the state health department attributed a newborn's death to the outbreak, Lancaster County coroner Stephen Diamantoni, MD, publicly stated that measles was not the cause of death, citing a lack of splenic enlargement and attributing the fatality to traumatic splenic rupture.
