Quality measures are getting a tech upgrade. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Komodo Health, an AI-powered healthcare intelligence company, to modernize how HEDIS quality measures are developed and tested. NCQA researchers will gain access to Komodo's Healthcare Map — a longitudinal dataset of over 330 million de-identified patient journeys — along with its AI platform, Marmot, to analyze care patterns across insurance types and patient populations from a single, consistent data source.

Historically, developing new HEDIS measures meant pulling from fragmented datasets and running separate analyses for each population, a process that could take two to three months. With Komodo's platform, that timeline has already been cut nearly in half. The partnership has already proven its value: Komodo supported development of the Follow-Up After Positive Colorectal Cancer Non-Invasive Screening Test (COF-E) measure, set for implementation in Measurement Year 2027.
