Global private equity firm LeapFrog Investments is doubling down on India's healthcare market, announcing plans to invest $80–$100 million over the next two years. The firm is evaluating asset-light, single-specialty healthcare providers, as well as hospitals serving patients outside major cities — areas often underserved by traditional healthcare infrastructure. Specialty care in maternal and child health, ophthalmology, and oncology are also on its radar.
The investment rationale is straightforward: India's healthcare sector is on a steep growth trajectory, fueled by expanding insurance penetration and rising consumer spending power. LeapFrog already has a foothold in the country through diagnostics provider Redcliffe Labs and digital health platform Healthify.

Why it matters: The surge in private equity interest signals growing confidence in India's healthcare infrastructure as a long-term growth story — with real implications for access to quality care in underserved regions.
