The team also uncovered specific cooperative mechanisms: Clostridium perfringens was found to promote the growth of Mediterraneibacter gnavus via extracellular vesicles, while Veillonella parvula can raise local pH levels, inadvertently helping acid-sensitive species like Parabacteroides merdae thrive.
