UnitedHealthcare is expanding its child and family behavioral coaching program to 13 million commercial members, adding 5 million at no extra cost to employers. The program targets low-severity mental health needs — like mild anxiety, ADHD, and depression — in kids averaging 12 years old. Early data show real symptom improvements, signaling a growing push for upstream mental health intervention.
UnitedHealthcare is broadening access to its child and family behavioral coaching program, now reaching 13 million commercial members — including 5 million newly added individuals at no additional cost to their employers. Originally launched in 2023 for select fully insured clients, the program targets low-severity behavioral health concerns like mild-to-moderate anxiety, ADHD, bullying, depression, and sleep difficulties, with a focus on early intervention before issues escalate.
Members can access up to four virtual coaching sessions per month, with appointments available within 48 hours, plus unlimited secure messaging with certified coaches supervised by licensed clinicians. The program sits alongside complementary tools like the Calm Health app and a 24/7 phone support line.
