Empatica just got the green light from the FDA for a wearable platform designed to continuously monitor Parkinson's disease symptoms. The Empatica Health Monitoring Platform tracks bradykinesia, dyskinesia, tremor, sleep, and medication compliance — bringing objective, real-world data directly into clinical care. It's the company's 12th FDA clearance and is already in use at over 150 hospitals worldwide.
Empatica has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Health Monitoring Platform for Parkinson's — a wearable-based system that continuously tracks key Parkinson's disease (PD) symptoms over time. The platform integrates clinical-grade wearables, a patient-facing app, secure cloud infrastructure, and a clinician portal, giving healthcare providers a more complete, objective picture of how a patient's symptoms evolve day to day.
The system incorporates technology from PKG Health, which Empatica acquired in 2025, and its underlying algorithms have been validated across more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. Research using PKG algorithms found that adding wearable-derived data to patient demographics and clinical scores improved prediction of an optimal medication regimen by 33%, reaching 86.9% accuracy — a meaningful leap for personalized PD care.
