Adults and children 12+ can take 2 tablets every 12 hours — making it one of the longest-lasting multi-symptom cold relief options on the market.
Mucinex gets a major upgrade
The FDA has approved Mucinex 12HR Cold & Fever Multi-Symptom, a new over-the-counter extended-release tablet that tackles cough, chest congestion, fever, and minor aches and pains — all in one pill. Developed by Reckitt after more than a decade of R&D, it's being billed as a first-of-its-kind formulation for long-lasting multi-symptom cold relief.
Each bilayer tablet packs three active ingredients: dextromethorphan HBr (cough suppressant), guaifenesin (expectorant), and naproxen sodium (NSAID for fever and pain). The extended-release design means adults and children 12+ only need to take 2 tablets every 12 hours, with a max of 4 tablets per day. Tablets must not be crushed, chewed, or broken.
