GSK teams up with Sino Biopharma to bring COPD and asthma inhalers to China. Sino Biopharmaceutical's China unit, Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical (CTTQ), has secured rights to market GSK's Trelegy Ellipta and Anoro Ellipta in mainland China. The deal expands a growing alliance that already covers hepatitis B treatment.
GSK and Sino Biopharmaceutical are deepening their partnership in China, this time moving into respiratory care. Sino Biopharmaceutical's China unit, Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical (CTTQ), has secured the rights to import, distribute, and promote two of GSK's inhaler products across mainland China, with all sales revenue to be recognized by CTTQ.
The two inhalers at the center of the deal are Anoro Ellipta, approved for the maintenance treatment of COPD, and Trelegy Ellipta, a triple therapy approved for both COPD and asthma. This marks a significant broadening of the companies' collaboration, which previously focused on liver disease following a May 2026 agreement to support the launch of GSK's hepatitis B drug candidate in China.
Quick Facts:
Why it matters: China represents one of the world's largest markets for respiratory disease treatments, given its high burden of COPD and air quality challenges. This expanded alliance gives GSK a stronger commercial foothold in mainland China while offering patients broader access to established inhaler therapies.
